KONKRET
A performance animation workshop for the stage arts.
DESCRIPTION
During autumn 2001 and spring 2002 a series of Performance Animation workshops
were held at the Interactive Institute in collaboration with Malmö
University college dept. for arts, culture and communication.
The workshops involved students , researchers, programmers, technicians
and a wide rage of professionals with a background in the performing arts
including stage and light designers, scriptwriters, puppeteers, actors,
animators and dancers.
The final session was a 3 day workshop in collaboration with performers
from Swedens free theatre groups participating in the theatre festival
KONKRET in Malmö 3 – 5 may 2002.
The following are examples of the prototypes developed during the workshops.

FALLING
MAN
Physical theatre, video montage, trick film
When you approach the character in the projection he will perform an act
changing the relation to the participant.

THE SHEMONSTER
Multidimensional traditional frame animation for a performance space.
When you walk from side to side at the back of the stage the character
will change facial expression and flirt. When you approach it –
it transforms into a monster.

DANCING SHADOWS
dynamic
models (autonomous robots, steering behaviors), video montage, trick film,
dance and physical theatre
Shadow characters that articulate dynamic gesture and movement from modern
dance physical theatre.
The digital video is controlled by a combination of the participants movement
and an autonomous agent giving its own life.

HAPPY SAD

Video characters that articulate stylized naturalistic theatrical expressions.
The digital video is controlled by a combination of the participant movement
and an autonomous agent giving its own life.

THE HORSE, THE PIG AND THE HOLY COW
Proxemic sound design
Proxemic relations and sound design for childrens theatre. Different space
– character relations trigger different sets of sound.
